Herald Drama
A community abiding in truth, abounding with grace and compelled by Christ’s love to be a relevant and redemptive voice in a changing world.
Our Mission
To study theater as both an intellectual and creative endeavor.
To present theatre that matters and continues to resound beyond the performance night.
To nurture a close-knit community of intellectually-curious and artistically-daring theatre practitioners while preparing students for future success through classes and production opportunities.
To make connections between cultures and across academic disciplines.
To strive for excellence in a professional work environment that is instilled with mutual respect.
To develop effective and creative communicators in order to challenge others to thoughtful examination of ideas, cultures, and values.
To use drama, one of the oldest and most powerful forms of artistic expression, to bring truth and light to the world.
Testimonials
The theatre program at WCHS gave me an environment where I felt comfortable in experimenting. The curriculum and the director, Callie Johnson, encourages students to try on a number of hats from actor, designer, playwright, dramaturg, financier, to director. The theatre program is very inclusive, accepting students with different levels of experience and exposure to theatre. I believe that the theatre program is what makes the WCHS community unlike any other. — Eunice Lee (Class of ‘22)
I earned foundational skills from the WCHS Theatre program that have built up and enhanced my abilities not only as a performer and artist, but also as a human being. I learned a lot about myself and how I can interact with other people in the world through my experience in theatre. This program allowed me to grow in my collaborative skills, and I felt supported as I learned how best to creatively problem solve and work together with my peers. I also felt I got a very well-rounded, foundational knowledge of theatre. Even in the first few weeks of studying drama in college, I have felt confident in my knowledge of theatre, established by the education I earned in the WCHS Theatre department. — Lara Verret (Class of ‘22)
